# eNACH

_The smarter way to manage high ticket recurring payments at scale!_

### **Overview**

**eNACH** (Electronic National Automated Clearing House) is a digital platform in India for automating recurring payments like loan EMIs, insurance premiums, utility bills, and subscriptions. It allows businesses to collect payments automatically through digital authorisation, eliminating manual intervention, reducing paperwork, and improving efficiency for both businesses and customers.

### eNACH Registration

Users can register for eNACH mandates via **Netbanking** , **Debit Card** , or **Aadhaar** . After registration consent on merchant app, they are redirected to the NPCI portal to authenticate and complete the registration, often accompanied by a small penny drop transaction for account verification, which is refunded to the user's account immediately. The mandate is approved in real time by NPCI once the authentication is completed. The authentication of an eNach registration can be done via following modes:

* **Debit Card:** Users authenticate by entering debit card details.
* **Net Banking:** Customers log in with net banking credentials.
* **Aadhaar:** Users authenticate using Aadhaar information (support varies across banks).

### Seamless recurring payments with eNACH

Managed by NPCI, eNACH ensures secure, efficient recurring transactions. Once the mandate is set, merchants can initiate recurring payments automatically to Juspay, when due. The pre-set amount is debited from the customer’s bank account by the payment gateway.

### **Frequently Asked Question**

## FAQs:

### How long does it take to set up a eNach mandate?

eNach registration is completed within 2 days for most of the cases, yet this is completely dependent on the respective banks.

### What is the maximum transaction amount supported for setting up mandates via eNACH?

The Maximum amount that a eNACH can be setup with is upto 10 Lakh INR without any 2 Factor Authentication for Cards or NB authentication and 1 Lakh INR with Aadhar authentication.

### What happens in case of a failed recurring payment request?

Recurring payment requests can fail for various reasons but not limited to:

**Technical Declines**

* Connectivity issue at the Bank or PA/PG partner
* Incorrect details provided by the merchant e.g., order amount exceeding the maximum mandate amount
* Pre Debit Notification failure (can be technical issues or customer-related issues)

**Business Declines:**

* Insufficient balance in the customer's account
* Blocked / inactive bank account of the customer
* Inactive mandate, i.e., the customer has revoked or paused the mandate

Merchants have the option to retry recurring payment requests based on these failure reasons.

### How will routing work for recurring payments

Recurring payment transactions will always be routed to the same PG/PA partner through which the eNach registration was done.

### What is the difference between eNach and eMandate?

**eNaCH Flow:**

* **Mandate Registration Only** : eNACH facilitates the registration of a recurring payment mandate but does not trigger the actual debit of funds during this process.
* **NPCI Governed** : It is governed by NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) and supports a wide network of **40+ banks** , making it widely accessible.
* **Debits Managed Separately** : The actual debiting of the customer’s account happens independently of the mandate registration, following the terms set during registration.
* Authentication of an eNach registration is supported via multiple authentication methods: **Net Banking (NB), Debit Card (CARD), and Aadhaar-based authentication.**

**eMandate Flow:**

* **Simultaneous Registration and Debit** : With eMandate, both the registration of the mandate and the debit of the first payment can happen simultaneously, streamlining the process.
* **Bank-Specific** : Unlike eNACH, eMandates are managed individually by banks, and currently, this service is supported by only ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.
* **One-Step Process** : For businesses looking for an immediate transaction process, eMandate allows for the first payment to be deducted as soon as the mandate is registered, which is not the case with eNACH.
* The **Net Banking (NB) eMandate flow** supports user authorization via only NetBanking login credentials for mandate registration process.
