## Retry



The retry mechanism is enabled by default for all merchants. If a transaction fails due to temporary issues (such as network errors, timeouts, or gateway unavailability), the system will automatically attempt to retry the transaction without requiring any manual intervention. This default setup helps improve conversion rates by reducing the impact of transient failures, ensuring a smoother and more reliable payment experience for customers.


## Retarget




### 1. **Transaction Fails** 



When a transaction fails (either technically or due to user issues), Juspay:

* Checks if the failure is eligible for retargeting based on unified error codes.
* Keeps the **order status as PENDING**  (no webhook sent to merchant yet).
* Triggers SmartConvert if conditions are met.


### 2. **Smart Nudges & Retarget** 



* Sends payment retry links via SMS/WhatsApp using pre-configured merchant-branded templates.
* The same **order ID**  is retained but a new **txn ID**  is generated.
* No new order is created.


### 3. **Successful Retry** 



If the customer completes the transaction via the retry link, the **order and txn move to a success state** , and the **order webhook is sent**  to the merchant.
