Wego, a leading travel and booking platform in the Middle East, needed a better way to manage its fast-growing payment operations across Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Reliant on multiple payment partners and methods—from local cards to digital wallets—Wego was spending substantial engineering time to integrate each provider and scale their payments infrastructure.

That’s when Wego adopted Juspay as their extended payments team. Juspay’s Payment Orchestration simplified working with, managing, and optimizing PSPs across countries with a single integration and smart-routing enabled transaction flow to different payment service providers dynamically and/or based on the custom rules defined by Wego. Automated Reconciliation by Juspay further simplified extensively manual accounting & reconciliation operations by unifying settlement data and flagging exceptions in real time.

Eliminating Payment Silos with Orchestration

Wego had expanded to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and each country has distinct payment preferences—ranging from debit cards under local networks like Mada, to credit cards and popular wallets (such as Apple Pay or local e-wallets). Wego’s customers expect frictionless checkouts, especially for mobile-based travel bookings.

With Juspay’s orchestration layer, Wego was able to simplify their Payment Operations.

  1. Easy PSP Onboarding: Once integrated with Juspay, Wego was able to quickly connect new or backup payment partners for both Saudi Arabia and the UAE, without custom coding each time.
  2. Smart Routing: Juspay automatically determines which PSP is most optimal—factoring in real-time success rates, fees, merchant defined rules, and other metrics. If one partner has downtime or errors, the transaction fails over to a backup, preserving the user experience.
  3. Reduced Maintenance: Rather than juggling separate APIs for every PSP, Wego monitors performance via a unified dashboard, saving countless developer hours on routine updates.

Handling Complex Settlements with Reconciliation

As volumes grow, reconciling transactions from multiple PSPs—even if they’re within the same region—can become a major undertaking. Each provider uses its own settlement file formats, timelines, and fee structures.

Juspay’s reconciliation product centralizes:

  • Automated Data Normalization: Settlement records from all PSPs are converted into a single unified view for Wego’s finance team.
  • Exception Handling: Any discrepancies—like missing transaction IDs, incorrect fees, or partial settlements—are flagged. Wego can then deep-dive into these exceptions in real time.
  • Faster, More Accurate Month-End: Reduced manual work means fewer spreadsheets to juggle and less risk of oversight.

Catering to Local Markets, Scaling for Global Goals

By simplifying PSP connections and settlement handling, Wego is now able to confidently ramp up payment volumes in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. That includes layering on local e-wallets and bank apps whenever user demand calls for it—without the typical multi-week dev cycles.

At Juspay, our goal is to help travel platforms like Wego streamline payments and reduce operational complexity. By bringing orchestration and reconciliation into a single platform, Wego can adapt to ever-shifting preferences in the Middle East’s fast-evolving payments landscape—ultimately delivering a frictionless booking experience for travelers heading to their next destination.
